What’s The Best Length of Veil For Me?

Everyone knows your bridal look isn’t complete without a veil! It’s the accessory that makes you look and feel like a bride. One of the best things about finding your dream dress is paring it with any kind of veil of your choosing, whether you’re a short veil girlie or you’re looking for something that drags down the whole aisle behind you.

One of the best parts about coming to Pritchétt is having that special moment when you fall in love with a dress and your consultant tops it off with a veil. That’s when it becomes real for our brides, and that’s why we have tissues in all of our bridal suites!

There are so many different types of veils for every kind of look, from whimsical and romantic to stylish and cute. The length can factor into the look you’re going for, along with any lace, edging, pearls, beading—even feathers—and more.

Something fun about Pritchétt Bridal is that we make a lot of our veils right here in-house! Our seamstresses are masters at veil making and they can truly complete any bridal look perfectly. Most veils will be made with some type of tulle, whether it’s the more structured English tulle or a soft tulle, or anything in between. Here’s a quick guide on a few of the different lengths of veils we have here at Pritchétt! The best part is, you can try on as many as you want right here in our store.

Short Veils

We have a few different short veils at Pritchétt, also called shoulder-lengths veils. Short veils are usually around 18 inches long. Don’t count this one out if you haven’t tried one on—they are beyond cute. We especially love when this length of veil is paired with a dress that has fun sleeves or a fun skirt, like layered tulle. We even have a short veil that’s pleated, and we’re obsessed. A short veil can really bring your bridal look from fun to flirty!

Elbow Length

Elbow length veils, also sometimes called waist length, are typically around 30 inches. This is a great length if you want something shorter than fingertip, but not quite as short as shoulder length. This type of veil goes really well with any kind of dress, from fitted to ballgowns.

Fingertip

This length of veil—you guessed it—typically ends around where your fingertips are, or around your mid thigh. This is a fun length if you’re wearing a fit and flare dress that flares out right around the same spot! They’re about 38 inches long and great for a classic bridal look. Anyone with this length of veil is the picture of bridal elegance.

Knee Length

Knee length veils are some of the most popular looks for every kind of bride, and for good reason. These veils are usually around 45 inches long. We especially love this length of veil with fit and flare or mermaid gowns—it adds that element of class while still showing off your curves.

Floor Length

Floor length veils can be matched with literally any kind of dress and still look fabulous. They’re typically around 60 to 65 inches long, and come down to the floor without dragging behind you.

Floor length veils are great if you’re going for that long bridal look but want to avoid having it on
the ground throughout the day.

Chapel

Chapel length veils are about 90 inches long, and drag behind you when you’re wearing it. We love all of our long veils, and these ones are especially fun to wear with the same lace or applique that’s on your dress. It’s the classic bridal look, the one that everyone thinks of when they imagine what a bride looks like. These veils are great for those pictures of veils blowing in the wind and extra drama walking down the aisle.

Cathedral

Our cathedral length veils are all to die for. Even longer than chapel, cathedral veils are typically around 108 inches and beyond. This one is for all the girlies who want that long, dragging look and then some. We even have a few that are made of the most delicate and whimsical looking soft tulle, giving your bridal look an extra layer of elegance. And we have one that’s entirely covered in glitter—you won’t want to miss trying that one on.

Bird Cage Veils

Bird cage veils are the itty bitty ones made of a wide mesh that just cover your face. These ones are super fun for anyone going for a vintage look, or for anyone who just likes something simple!

Blusher

A blusher is the kind of veil that comes in front of your face, and can come in any length. This is the one you see in the movies as the groom lifts it to reveal the face of his beautiful bride. If you’re looking for the ultimate bridal look, this is the one. And don’t even get us started on how incredible blushers look in photos.

Remember, where your veil hits you on your body is going to depend on how tall you are. Don’t be afraid to ask if the length of your veil can be shortened, our seamstresses can do it! They can also custom make any length that you want, all you have to do is ask. The best thing about our in-house veils is that they are almost always made to order, so you can customize it however you want.

Feel free to ask your consultant about which veils we have, and make sure you try on a lot! You never know which length could complete your bridal look perfectly. We have everything from pearl veils to embroidered veils, and everything in between. We can’t wait to be with you when you experience that special moment where you put on a veil for the first time. We’ll see you soon girlfriend!
